WHY THE TRAINING SAFE DISMANTLING OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES?
Electric and hybrid vehicles are increasingly entering dismantling and recycling companies. These vehicles must be dismantled safely and in compliance with current regulations.

Innovam developed this training in cooperation with Auto Recycling Netherlands (ARN). The training is designed for automotive dismantling technicians who need to carry out dismantling activities on electric vehicles in a safe and responsible way.

You will learn how to work according to the NEN 9140 standard. This is the Dutch safety standard for working on and dismantling electric and hybrid vehicles.

This is an English-language training.

HOW IS THE TRAINING STRUCTURED?

  • As preparation, you first complete an e-learning module. You can do this at home or at work.
  • For the practical part, you attend a one-day training at Innovam. Lunch is included.

In the e-learning, you learn the essential theory. During the practical day, you will learn how to identify high-voltage (HV) components, assess risks and safely dismantle an electric vehicle. You will work with manufacturer dismantling instructions using IDIS.

WHAT WILL I LEARN DURING THE TRAINING?
After completing the training, you will be able to:

  • identify and name the EV components of an electric vehicle
  • recognise the safety risks of working on electric vehicles
  • explain which safety measures are required when working on electric vehicles
  • determine the safety condition of an electric vehicle using a risk assessment
  • decide whether to dismantle a vehicle or store it in a safe location
  • assess the risk of electrical hazards or fire hazards
  • determine which personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when working on HV systems
  • explain the requirements for PPE and tools
  • inspect PPE for safety and proper condition
  • safely isolate the HV system using manufacturer instructions (IDIS)
  • explain the importance of measuring battery temperature
  • recognise the risks involved in storing damaged HV batteries

WHAT ABOUT CERTIFICATION?
After successfully completing the training, you will receive a digital certificate. This certificate demonstrates that you have been trained in accordance with the NEN 9140 standard for the safe and competent dismantling of electric and hybrid vehicles.

DO I NEED PRIOR KNOWLEDGE?
To take part in this training, you need a good command of English, both spoken and written, at a minimum of CEFR level B1. This means you can follow instructions, explanations and technical content in English. You should also be working in the automotive recycling sector.

TRAINING COST REIMBURSEMENT
ARN reimburses the training costs for one participant per affiliated vehicle dismantling company. A partial reimbursement applies for the second and third participant.
